Robert (Bob) Leon Jones, 77, of Clayton, North Carolina, succumbed to Parkinson’s Disease at home on Saturday, November 10, 2018. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth (Betty) Blais Jones of 58 years, daughter Robin (Bob) Copeland of Lenoir, NC, son Randy (Julie) Jones of Fort Mill, SC, daughter Lori Ann (John) Foister of Benson, NC, son Ryan (Carla) Jones of Clayton, NC, twelve grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, brothers, sister, many nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents Putnam and Norma Jones, brother Bud Jones and sister Sue McKinstry. Bob was a faithful provider for his family. Bob served in the United States Marine Corp for six years. He passed away on the Marine Corps 243rd birthday. Bob loved to be outside working on a project. He could build or fix just about anything. After thirty-five years as a heavy equipment operator and foreman at R.H. White Construction of Auburn, MA, he and Betty moved to Smith Mountain Lake, VA, where they owned and operated R E Enterprise, a lawn care , handyman, and cleaning business, for twenty years. A special thank you to the North Carolina State Veterans Home and Pruitt Health Hospice for their loving care and support. Also, thank you to Bryan-Lee Funeral Home for all of the arrangements. A graveside service for Bob will be Thursday, November 15, at Maplewood Cemetery in Clayton at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
