Robert Leon Gibbs, Sr.

GARNER- Robert Leon Gibbs, Sr., 83, passed away unexpectedly on May 27, 2023. A native of Hyde, North Carolina, Robert was born on November 1, 1939. Robert proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps from August 1961 to August 1965. He then dedicated the rest of his life to raising his family. If you asked him what made him the happiest, he would say being with his children and grandchildren.

Robert was preceded in death by his father Willie K. Gibbs, mother Evone Dell Gibbs and sister Jo Ellen Cutrell.

Robert is survived by his loving daughters; Ellen Turner (Jesse) of Hope Mills, Rebecca Howell (Dverl) of Youngsville, Frances Gibbs of Rocky Mount and Rhonda Gibbs (Shaun) of Garner; sons, Leon Gibbs, Jr. (Shannon) of Angier, Roy Gibbs of Angier, and Raymond Gibbs (Melissa) of Apex; brothers, Jessie Gibbs (Mak-Nae) of Hope Mills, and Clyde Gibbs (Connie) of Washington.

Robert adored his four grandchildren Cameron, Austin, Elizabeth and Hailey.

A funeral service will be held at 12 PM on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home Chapel, 1200 Benson Road, Garner, NC 27529.
