Raleigh – Robert “Bob” L. Hogan, 93, passed away on June 21, 2023. Bob was born May 9, 1930, to the late Leslie Wood and Margaret Augusta Hogan, and was raised in Babylon, New York. Bob proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps before becoming a New York State Trooper in 1952, eventually attaining the rank of Sr. Investigator. On June 6, 1954, he married the love of his life, Marjorie (Massa) Hogan, who predeceased him in 2015. Bob and Marge lived much of their lives and raised their family in Bay Shore, New York. After retiring from the State Police, Bob began a new career in retail security and was employed by Abraham and Straus, Bergdorf Goodman’s, and Brooks Brothers. He retired a second time from Brooks Brothers as their Corporate Director of Security. He was a dyed-in-the-wool Boston Red Sox fan, a N.Y. Islanders fan, and loved playing softball for many years. His love of boating, fishing, and all things salt water provided many hours of quality family time on the waters of the Great South Bay of Long Island. Bob was also a member of the Freemasons, initially joining Bay Shore Lodge #1043 in N.Y., and after moving to N.C. he joined Garner Lodge #701.
Bob is survived by his children, Danielle Hogan (Ethel) of Fuquay-Varina, NC, Robert Hogan (Dina) of Poughkeepsie, NY, and Jeannine Mixon (Michael) of Powell’s Point, NC; grandchildren Steven and Justin Hogan, Michelle Mixon, great grandchildren Aaliyah, Elijah, Salem, Shawn, and Ieva Hogan. He is also survived by a niece and several nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Bob was preceded in death by his son Steven, and brother, George “Judd” Hogan.
The family would like to thank the wonderful care both Dad and Mom received from the staff at “Arosa – Care Elevated” as well as the staff at “Transitions Hospice.”
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, July 29th, 2023, at 11 AM in the Bryan-Lee Funeral Home Chapel, 1200 Benson Road Garner, NC 27529. A Masonic Memorial Service will take place at this time as well. The family will receive friends following the service.
