Angier– Robert (Otha) Honeycutt, 92, passed away on Saturday at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Born in Wake County, he was the son of the late Eugene Honeycutt and Hettie Paige Honeycutt.
A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, October 16th at Stevens Chapel Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery, 7856 Elevation Rd. Benson, NC 27504. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 14th from 6:00-8:00 PM at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 300 E. McIver St. Angier, NC 27501.
Otha is survived by his grandson, whom he considered more like a son, Clay Ausley (Melissa “Missy”) of Fuquay-Varina; granddaughter, Kathy Ward of Knightdale; great granddaughter, Emily Ward of Knightdale; daughter, Charlotte Kelly; siblings, Portia Adams (Max “Doc”) of Angier, Julia Webb (J.E.) of Erwin, Calvin Honeycutt of Angier, Sammy Honeycutt (Ann) of Angier; step-children, Jo Ann Barnes of Angier, Kevin Jernigan (Jenny) of Angier, Tommy Barnes (Donna) of Angier; step-grandchildren, Dalton Jernigan and Tonya Inscore.
In addition to his parents, Otha was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary “Frances” Honeycutt; sons, Robert Honeycutt and Roger Honeycutt; siblings, Zelma Ennis, Lonnie Honeycutt, Stronnie Honeycutt, Evelyn Haire, Jewel Horton, Thomas Honeycutt, and Dixie Crone.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the SECU Hospice House of UNC Health Johnston in memory of Otha. When mailing please send to Johnston Health Foundation, P.O. Box 1376 Smithfield, NC 27577. Checks may be made payable to Johnston Health Foundation. In the memo line be sure to designate “SECU Hospice House”.
