Robert P. Dingus

FUQUAY-VARINA – Robert Patrick Dingus, 38, of Fuquay-Varina, NC passed away November 18, 2016 at home surrounded by his family.  He fought a courageous battle with cancer for over three years.  He was born December 2, 1977 in Johnson City, TN. The family will receive friends Monday, November 21st from 6:00 – 7:15 PM at Highland Baptist Church. Immediately following the visitation the funeral service will begin at 7:30 PM. Burial will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 22 at Wright Cemetery in Otto, NC. Robert always had a smile on his face.  He loved life and helping people.  He was a long time member of the Joy Class at Highland Baptist Church.  He graduated from Garner Senior High School in 1998. He worked at Lowe’s Home Improvement in Garner for 17 years until he became ill. Robert is survived by his parents Patrick and Rosa Gregory of Fuquay-Varina, Father Michael Dingus of Surgoinsville, TN; two sisters, Jessica Gregory Meeks and husband, Jay of Knightdale, Ashley Gregory and fiancé, Kyle of Saluda, NC; one very special niece, Isla Rose Meeks of Knightdale; paternal grandmother, Dorothy Gregory of Cornelia, GA; special friend, Samantha Wheeless, and several loving aunts, uncles and cousins. Robert was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Robert Sells, Elsie and Harold Wagner; paternal grandparents, Patrick and Grace Dingus, Patrick A. Gregory, Sr. The family would like to thank Transitions LifeCare for their wonderful care and support, and the doctors, nurses and staff at UNC Cancer Hospital. Robert’s favorite time of year was Christmas, but after Christmas he started looking forward to Happiness Retreat Camp with his Sunday school class in August.
