Robert Reed

August 13, 1934 — April 20, 2025

Coats, NC- Bob was a man with a determined spirit, a heart full of faith in his Savior Jesus Christ, a strong love for his family and his church family and a passion for the simple pleasures in life. He was born and raised in Ackerman, Mississippi to parents, Loyd and Lura Adams Reed. After graduation from Mississippi State University, he joined the U.S. Army and served his country, finishing his service as an Army Recruiter. Afterwards, Bob was employed by the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement. His love for family life and family reunions - whether in Mississippi, Louisiana, or Michigan was well known. He enjoyed having a large garden, fruit trees and blueberry bushes. When not working in his garden, he could be found fishing in his pond or giving away vegetables or fruit. After retiring, he served the community by delivering prepared meals to shut-ins around McGees Crossroads for 14 years.

Bob was a 35+ years member of Providence Presbyterian Church, serving as an Elder, long time Sunday School teacher and working in various ministries as long as his health permitted.

He was predeceased by his parents, Loyd and Lura Adams Reed; wives, Wanda Reed, Janet Reed; brothers, William Loyd and wife, Bessie Reed, Paul Reed; sister, Kate R. Dempsey and husband, John, and brother-in-law, Les Healy.

Those left to remember him lovingly include his wife of over 23 years, Nadine M. Reed; sons, Robert E. Reed and wife, Kelly, Nathan Reed and wife, Heather; daughters, Pam Schou and husband, Roger, Debbie R. Taylor; sister, Dorothy R. Healy; sister-in-law, Betty Reed; grandchildren, Caleb Reed and wife, Brittany, Colton Reed and wife, Ellie, Cheyanne Reed, Shawn Schou and wife, Rebecca, Stephanie S. Becouvarakis and husband, Ben, Bambi Taylor, Garrett El Arab; two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Providence Presbyterian Church- Building Fund in Bob's memory.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 25th at Providence Presbyterian Church, 14664 NC 210, Angier, NC. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 3- 10:45 AM prior to the service at the church. Arrangements have been provided by Bryan-Lee Funeral Home of Angier.
