Robert Thomas Morris, Sr.

Robert Thomas Morris, Sr. of Raleigh, passed away on October 1, 2012 at age 89. He was born December 20, 1922 in Durham. He served in the United States Army during WWII. He established Bob Morris Opticians, Inc. in 1969. He was a charter member of St. Giles Presbyterian Church in Raleigh. He was a member of the North Raleigh Exchange Club.He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Iris Woodall Morris; his son, Robert Thomas Morris, Jr. and his wife Gail Simpson Morris, of Raleigh; daughter Donna D. Jones of Bristol, Tennessee; grandchildren Robert Thomas Morris III, Caroline Elizabeth Morris, of Raleigh; Mari Denise Morris of Bristol, Tennessee; Rebecca Martin of Wilmington; Samuel Jones of Bristol, Tennessee; and great grandchild Logan Martin of Wilmington.He is also survived by sister Nancy Rouse of Deltona Florida. He was predeceased by his brother Jack B. Morris, and his sister Ruth Green.The family will receive friends from 6 pm until 8 pm on Wednesday, October 3rd at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 831 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh. Graveside funeral rites will be held Thursday, October 4th at 11 am at Brier Creek Memorial Park, 7600 ACC Blvd, Raleigh.
