Robert Vandeventer Parker

GARNER - Robert V. Parker, 90, passed away Tuesday at his home in Garner. He was born in Portsmouth, Virginia. Mr. Parker was the son of the late William Warren Parker and Cora Elizabeth Trower. He was preceded in death by his brothers; Billy Parker, Earl Parker and Warren Parker. He also had a son, Mark Anthony Parker, who preceded him in death. Mr. Parker is survived by his beloved wife, Elva Harper Parker; his sons, John Parker and Matthew Parker; daughters, Bonnie Louise Parker and Carolyn Larrison; 22 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Mr. Parker was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served as a Branch President and later as a Bishop for seven years. He was an active missionary for the church and served the community all his life. Mr. Parker served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday morning at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Aversboro Road. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Raleigh. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm Friday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner.
