Roberta "Robbie" Louise Savin Chambers

HOLLY SPRINGS - Roberta "Robbie" Louise Savin Chambers, 69, of Holly Springs, North Carolina was called home to be with her Heavenly Father on July 12, 2022. She was born on January 8, 1953, in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. She is preceded into heaven by her parents, Milton Willard and Louise Byrum Savin; and by her sister, Beverly Meiggs. She is survived by her beloved husband of 49 years, James T. Chambers, Jr. They were high school sweethearts, having attended Northeastern High School in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. They married on April 1, 1973, and they had two children, Matthew (and his wife Marianna) and David (and his wife Melanie). She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Sofie, Alex, Sarah, and Ahnna. She loved her family very much. Robbie was an amazing mom and "Nana" who loved to cook; she was especially known for her pound cake, banana pudding, and "Nana brownies." She loved the Lord Jesus and was faithful in serving Him. She will be missed by her family and friends but she has left a legacy of love, faith, and generosity. Many of her friends and the lives she touched were anchored around her church life, whether it be at Homestead Heights in Durham, Old Fort Baptist in Summerville, Fuquay Varina Baptist, and Emmanual Baptist Churches. She was active in Sunday Schools, Mission Friends, and Women's ministries and supportive of her sons' ministry work. Robbie’s life and the impact she left on the lives of her friends will continue to be cherished in the days ahead. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 21, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at Bryan Lee Funeral Home of Raleigh, located at 831 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh, North Carolina 27604. The funeral will be at 11:00 am on Friday, July 22, at Emmanual Baptist Church in Raleigh with the Revs. Josh Scally and Ben Pearce officiating. Burial will be the following day, Saturday, July 23, at noon in New Hollywood Cemetery in Elizabeth City.
