RALEIGH - Roger Arden Davenport, 87, passed away on Tuesday. A native of Tyrrell County, he was the son of the late Thomas and Lillie Furlough Davenport. He was an active member of HollandsUnitedMethodistChurch for 55 years, serving in the choir and as a youth counselor for 20 years. Mr. Davenport was a member of the Garner Civitan Club serving as Chaplain. He owned and operated Davenport Florist for many years, and was a well known wedding director. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday at HollandsUnitedMethodistChurch. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Davenport is survived by his wife of 55 years Edna King Davenport; daughters, Lynne Davenport Murray and husband, Mike of Wendell, Lisa Davenport Stanley and husband, Clint of Raleigh; son, Roger A. Bud Davenport, Jr. and wife, Cathy of Garner; grandchildren, who affectionately called him Poppy Michael Stanley, Jennifer S. Ferguson, Brianna Kouder, Blake Murray, Brooke Murray, Brittany Kouder, Parker Stanley, Karlin Stanley, Roger A. Trey Davenport III, Griffin Stanley, Tommy Davenport; four great-grandchildren, and niece, Beth Ann Smith and husband, Carl of Kinston. The family will receive friends for 6-8:00 pm Thursday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner. Flowers are appreciated, or memorial contributions may be made to the Hollands United Methodist Church Youth Ministry, 9433 Ten-Ten Road, RaleighNC27603.
