Cary, NC – Roger Carroll Orndorff II, 80, passed away July 2, 2015. Roger was born August 2, 1934 in Wardensville, WV, the eldest son of the late Roger Carroll and Allene Didawick Orndorff. Roger graduated from Wardensville High School in 1953. He attended Potomac State College in Keyser, WV and Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, WV. Roger served in the Army during the Cuban Missle Crisis. He retired from NCDOT in 1998 after 30 years of service. Roger was devoted to his family and loved them dearly. He was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Bill Snarr of Strasburg, VA and Graham Yates of Raleigh, NC. Surviving Mr. Orndorff are his wife of 48 years, Nancy Yates Orndorff; three children, Roger Carroll Orndorff III (Michelle) of Holly Springs, NC, Ronnie Wright of Wilmington, NC and Debbie W. Gilliam (Lee) of Willow Spring, NC; one grandson, Chris Jackson; sisters, Carrollyn Kotz (Harold) of Wardensville, WV and Natalie Snarr of Strasburg, VA; brothers, Rodney Orndorff (Adelaide) of Raleigh, NC and Dixon Orndorff (Suzie) of Wardensville, WV; brother-in-law, Bob Yates (Virginia) of Raleigh and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 6, at 11 AM in the chapel of Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 831 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh, NC. Entombment will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 until 9 PM on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either “Able to Serve,” 157 Technology Drive, Garner, NC 27529 (special needs organization), Hospice of Wake County or the charity of one’s choice.
