RALEIGH – Roger Leon Baker, 78, died Wednesday at Transitions LifeCare after an 8 year battle with Alzheimer’s. Born in Harnett County, he was the son of the late Leon Early Baker and Vera Mozelle Mills Baker. He was well loved and respected by his family and community. He enjoyed helping others, whether he was cutting grass for widows or donating his time in any way he could. The funeral service will be 1:30 pm Friday at Hilltop Church, where he was a devoted member. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday at the church from 12:30 -1:15, prior to the service. Survivors include his wife, Lucille Britt Baker; son, Rodney Baker (Wendy); sisters, Shirley Dean and Marjorie Martin; 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and a loving extended family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Tony Baker; sister, Peggy O’Quinn and daughter, Catina Baker McIntyre.
