Roland A. “Crumb” Cook, Jr.

ANGIERRoland A. (Crumb) Cook, Jr., 60, Angier, formerly of Star Lake, NY, died early Sunday morning at his home after a courageous battle against cancer. Crumb was born Aug. 24, 1955 in Canton, NY and attended school in Harrisville and Star Lake. He completed his Associates degrees from SUNY Canton and became a talented electrician and handyman. He also spent many years as a volunteer EMT and firefighter in Star Lake, NY. He worked for Todd’s True Value hardware in Star Lake, NY for over a decade before relocating his family to Garner, NC. In NC he worked for Lanehart Electric, Alan Clark Electric, was self-employed, and worked at the NC DHHS lab. He married Rita Catherine Shene on September 4, 1976 at the Church of Light and Contentment in Homer, NY. Crumb dedicated his life to Christ in 2001, shared his faith with words of encouragement routinely and also became an ordained minister in 2015. Surviving him are his wife Rita, one daughter, Nichole L. Martin and her husband Sam of Collierville, TN and their four children, Decker, Avery, Samantha, and Ronen, son Bernard J. Cook and his wife Erica of Angier, NC, and son Christopher C. Cook and his wife Celeste of Angier, NC, and their daughter Caedence. Also surviving are four brothers and one sister, James V., Star Lake, NY, Lawrence R., Russell, NY, D. Lynn, Manchester, NH, Lester E., Spencerport, NY, and Donald R. Cary, NC. Preceding him in death were his parents Georgianna Mae MacCue Cook and Roland Alvin Cook, Sr. of Oswegatchie, NY. The funeral will be held at 6:00 pm Friday, May 6, at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 300 McIver St. Angier, NC 27501. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Garner Relay for Life or to your local no-kill animal shelter. “Be Blessed by Being a Blessing”
