Roland Albert Dodson, Iii

Beloved husband and father, Roland Albert Dodson III (affectionately known as “Bert”), passed peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday August 14 th aged 54. A lifelong resident of Garner, Bert graduated from Garner High School in 1985, then attended Appalachian State University on a pole vaulting scholarship where he earned his degree in Industrial Engineering. Bert founded and managed local business RA Dodson Construction. An avid outdoorsman, Bert loved hosting family and friends on his boat for days filled with watersports and, of course, fishing. He also enjoyed mountain biking, skiing, and woodworking. Bert will be fondly remembered for his generous heart, amazing hugs, and porch hospitality. Bert is survived by wife Lisa and their two cherished boys, Colton and Cates Dodson, along with sister Mary Elizabeth Dodson and her three children Haley, Lauren, and William of Angier. He is predeceased by parents Roland and Virginia. The family will be planning a Celebration of Life in honor of Bert at a later date.
