Roland Deward Dutton

Garner - Roland Deward Dutton, Sr., 87, walked into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 30, 2011.Born on October 5, 1924 in Brunswick County, he was the son of late John George Dutton and Mary Thelma Marlowe Dutton.At the time of his retirement, he had owned and operated Bill Jones Tire Service for over 20 years.Previous employment includes 21 years with Greyhound Bus Lines. Mr. Dutton was a 32nd degree Mason and a charter member of Vandora Lodge No. 745.He proudly served his country and was a veteran of World War II. He was a long time member of Highland Baptist Church.He will be missed by his wife of 61 years, Louise Edwards Dutton; daughters Amy Page and husband Tony, Susan Kinney and husband John, all of Raleigh; sons Roland Dutton, Jr. and wife Susan of Raleigh and John Dutton and his wife Melissa of Clayton; sister Jewel Applewhite of Asheboro; brother Kenneth Dutton of Burlington; grandchildren Daniel and Michael Kinney, Marlowe and Makayla Dutton, and Lacy and Addison Dutton.He is preceded in death by his sister, Inez Ward and brother, Milton Dutton.Family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Wednesday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday at Highland Baptist Church.Burial with Masonic Rites will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Macular Degeneration Research c/o Duke University Eye Center, Box 3802, Durham NC, 27710, Attn: Development Office.I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7
