Ronald Glenn Richardson passed away peacefully on January 16, 2024, at Transitions Life Care after a courageous battle with congestive heart failure.
Glenn was born April 7, 1947, at Rex Hospital and was raised in Raleigh, North Carolina. He attended Enloe High School where he was a member of the class of 1965. After high school graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and was stationed at posts in Florida, Australia and Alaska, somehow never stepping foot on a ship during his service. Honorably discharged, he followed the love of his life (Linda) to Appalachian State University where he found his true calling as a husband and father during his time in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1975, he and his family returned to Raleigh to be near family. In 1980 they made a final move to Garner, where he resided until his passing.
He will always be remembered by his family as a man with a quick wit who never put himself first and loved with his whole heart. Devoted to his wife, they stood together through triumph and challenge, never wavering in their commitment to one another. A fantastic father and grandfather, memories of beach trips, ball games and time spent together will continue to produce smiles for generations.
He was predeceased by his father William Walter Richardson Sr.; mother, Lois Jones Richardson; brothers, William Walter Richardson Jr., Robert Allen Richardson, and Mark Lyle Richardson. He is survived by Linda, his wife of 52 years; son, Shane and his wife Ellen; grandchildren, Cooper and Graham; and numerous other family members and friends, all of whom will miss him deeply.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 23 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 831 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh, NC 27604.
A celebration of Glenn’s life will be held on Wednesday, January 24 at 11:00 a.m. at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 831 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh, NC 27604. An interment will follow immediately afterward at Montlawn Memorial Park, 2911 S Wilmington St, Raleigh, NC 27603.
