Ronald Alan Williams, 58, of Garner, NC, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, February 24, 2025, following a courageous two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on October 4, 1966 to James Leland Williams and the late Margaret "Peggy" Williams.
Ronald grew up in Garner, NC and graduated from UNC Wilmington with a degree in finance. Over the years, he built a successful career, first joining his brother, David Williams, as a partner in Rainy Days Irrigation. In 2010, Ronald ventured into the sanitation business and founded Patriot Sanitation, which he later built alongside his son, Corey. Ronald also had a passion for real estate, purchasing and developing commercial properties. He spent years searching for the best deals and was particularly proud to pass on his knowledge and expertise to Corey. When Ronald received his pancreatic cancer diagnosis in March 2023, he began preparing Corey to take over his businesses and real estate ventures, confident in his son's abilities.
Ronald's greatest joy was his son, Corey, and his granddaughter, Charlotte. He was incredibly proud of the man and father Corey had become, and every moment spent together was treasured. Ronald also shared a deep love for the coast and cherished memories at Atlantic Beach, particularly with his mother, Peggy. He had recently begun building a home on Pond Drive at Atlantic Beach, and while he was unable to see it completed, Corey and Rachel are committed to honoring Ronald's vision by finishing the home just as he dreamed.
Ronald is survived by his son, Corey Williams (Rachel Grady) and granddaughter, Charlotte; his former wife, Lisa Johnson Williams; his father, James Leland Williams; his brother, David Williams (Paula); and his beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family: Preston and Kristen, Allie and Ivan, Mona and Michael, Kimberly and Charles, Stephanie, Sam and Emily, Rob and LeAnn, Jeff and Allison, Aunt Adele, and Uncle Robert. He is preceded in death by his mother, Peggy Williams, and several aunts and uncles.
A funeral service will be held Monday, March 3, 2025 at 11:00am at First Baptist Church, 601 St. Mary's Street, Garner, NC 27529. The family will receive friends Sunday, March 2, 2025 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 1200 Benson Road, Garner, NC 27529.
Ronald's family extends their deepest gratitude to the friends and individuals who provided support throughout his journey.
A special acknowledgment is given to Lisa Johnson Williams. Words cannot express how grateful and blessed the family feels for Lisa's love and devotion during Ronald's illness. She was a constant source of strength and comfort, caring for him with selflessness and compassion. Ronald knew he wanted Lisa by his side until his last breath, and he entered the presence of Christ knowing he was deeply loved.
Ronald will be remembered for his generosity, resilience, and the joy he brought to those around him. He was a cherished father, son, brother, and friend, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
