Rosa Lee Stephens

Raleigh- Rosa Lee Stephens, 78, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday surrounded by her loving family. A native of Wake County, she was the daughter of the late B.W. and Ruby Flynn.Funeral service will be held 11:00 am Saturday at Faith Baptist Church, Apex. Burial will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.At the age of 6, Rosa informed her parents that she had met the man she was going to marry, Horace S. Stephens, Jr. They were wed on April 19, 1952 and shared 62 years living in NC and VA. Rosa always had a strong faith and loved Christ. She was a beloved mother and homemaker to 4 children and all the neighborhood youth. She and Horace enjoyed sharing the Gospel thru music at the local churches and nursing home. Rosa had a special place in her heart for her beloved family pets. In addition to her parents, Rosa was preceded in death by her son, Douglas Eugene Gene Stephens and a sister, Joann Inscore.Rosa is survived by her husband, Horace S. Stephens, Jr.; son, Benjamin H. Stephens and wife, Margaret; Timothy W. Stephens and wife, Kris; daughter, Rose Marie Harris; brother, Henry Flynn; sister, Linda Sandaford; 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm Friday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner.She battled cancer for over 6 years and in the last 2 years, was diagnosed with Alzheimers. The family would like to extend their great appreciation to Transylvania County Home Health and Hospice for their loving care of Rosa and compassion to the family.
