Rosalind Walker Woolard

RALEIGH- Rosalind Walker Woolard, age 96, died Thursday surrounded by her loving and caring family at her home. Born in Durham County, but a long-time resident of the Raleigh area, she was the daughter of the late Viola Wheeler and Roy J. Walker, Sr.

Rosalind was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church for 80 years beginning in 1943. She served in many capacities at the church including being the Sunday School Nursery Teacher for over 40 years. She loved to cook for her family especially Sunday Dinners. Before her declining health, Rosalind enjoyed flower gardening. All remember, Rosalind’s devotion and support for the NC State Wolfpack. She loved her Lord, her family and the land.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 11:00 am at New Bethel Baptist Church, Garner. Burial, church cemetery. Surviving: daughter, Donna Woolard of Cary and the home; sons, J. Dale Woolard and wife, Gail of Raleigh; Dennis R. Woolard and wife, Amy of Willow Spring; grandson, Samuel James Woolard and wife, Caitie of Erie, PA; two great-granddaughters, Azalee Keys Woolard and Cecily Rosalind Woolard; and sister, Annie Lou Andrews of Durham. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, James J. Woolard; sister, Charline W. Walker and brothers, Roy J. Walker, Jr. and Norman W. Walker.

The family will receive friends at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner on Wednesday from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. Flowers are appreciated, or contributions may be made to New Bethel Baptist Church, Garner NC.

The family requests that perfume and cologne not be worn due to allergies at the funeral or visitation.
