Ruby G. Tawney

FUQUAY-VARINA, NC – Ruby Gibson Tawney, 75, passed away on Sunday surrounded by her loving family. A native of Alleghany County, VA she was the daughter of the late Marvin and Mary Furry Gibson. Funeral Services will be held Thursday at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier. Surviving are her daughters, Marie Blake and husband, Joseph of Benson, Kathryn Grady of Willow Spring, Kaye Wise and husband, Melvin of Fuquay-Varina, Anita Tawney of Garner, Luann Jodoin and husband, David of Oxford, MA; son, Marvin Tawney of Dunn; daughter-in-law, Debbie Tawney; sister, Missy Grim and husband, Joe of VA; brothers, Edward “Buddy” Gibson and wife, Carlene of VA, Vance Gibson and wife, Kathy of VA, Hugh “Buzzy” Gibson and wife, Shelby of VA; brother-in-law, Gerald Sizemore of VA; grandchildren, TJ Blake, Lisa Herndon, Jessica Wise, Ashley Edwards, Tasha Burdette, Jason Honeycutt, Courtney Parsons; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Ruby is preceded in death by her son, John Tawney, Jr.; sisters, Gaynell Weese, Cleva “Sissy” Sizemore; brothers, J.W. Meadows and Mark Gibson. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be sent to Amedisys Hospice, 220 New Fidelity Court Garner, NC 27529 in Ruby’s memory.
