After completing three years of study at Campbell University, he enlisted in the US Navy and was a Hospital Corpsman from 1977-1985.
From 1999-2010, Rudy was the Pastor for the Gateway United Pentecostal Church in Henderson, NC. While Pastor, he developed direct-study courses and religious education programs.

From 2007 - present, Rudy worked as a security guard for Allied Universal, The North Carolina Museum of Natural History and the RBC Arena in Raleigh, NC.
In 1977, Rudy met Janet at McDonald's where he went to the counter to place his order and instantly fell head over heels for Janet and asked her out right on the spot. From there, he proposed on the first date and it really was love at first sight, because they married and loved each other for the next 46 years. Rudy and Janet have two sons, David (Hannah) Britt and Michael (Ashley) Britt. They have five grandchildren Charisma, Dylan, Arieanna, Logan and Declan.
Rudy never retired and spent his time working in security and in the yard he loved to tend. He had a love of fishing, gardening, studying the Scriptures, and traveling to the mountains of NC and TN.
Rudy was predeceased by his parents, and two siblings, Joseph Calvin Britt, Jr. and Joyce Marie Britt. He is survived by his sister Margaret Joyce Marie Britt, of Washington, DC.
