Russell L. Watkins

Russell L. Watkins was born on September 4, 1930 and died on Friday, September 1, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents Otha and Thelma Barlow Watkins, and his wife, Audrey Watkins. He graduated from Millbrook High School in 1950. Afterwards, he began a 54 year career as a truck driver. He will be remembered as a devoted son, father, husband, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was always a hard worker and was known for saying “anything worth doing is worth doing right.” Mr. Watkins is survived by his daughter, Ginger Eaton (husband, David); grandchildren Zachary, Jesse and Aerynn Eaton; and brother, Johnny Watkins (wife, Janie). Funeral service will be held at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 831 Wake Forest Rd., Raleigh on Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:00 Noon to 1:00. Burial will follow the service at Brier Creek Memorial Gardens. Mr. Watkins requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Wake Co. SPCA, 200 Petfinder Lane, Raleigh, NC 27603.
