Ruth Evelyn King

RALEIGH - Ruth Evelyn King passed away on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at the age of 93. She was born on August 11, 1928, to William Stanford King and Emma Julia Dodson King. She was the youngest of 7 children. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Clayborne S. King, Thomas M. King, and William Drexel King; her sisters, Gertrude K. Humphrey, Christine K. Smith, and Edith K. Webb. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews who always referred to her lovingly as “The Sweet Aunt”. Ruth was a secretary with the State of North Carolina until her retirement. She was also a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Raleigh. Ruth loved her family and all animals, especially cats. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Spring Arbor Assisted Living on New Hope Church Road in Raleigh for the excellent care that Ruth received while she was a resident there. In accordance with Ruth’s wishes, the family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Friday, October 1, at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 831 Wake Forest Road in Raleigh, NC. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 2, at 2:00 PM at Princeton Cemetery in Princeton, NC.
