Willow Spring - Ruth Revels Stephenson, 86, passed away on Sunday at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Born in Johnston County, she was the daughter of the late Van Buren Revels and Nancy Ann Williams Revels. She was a very caring and loving mom. She was a sincere quiet person, always thinking of others and wanting them to be happy. She loved her husband, her family, her church, gospel music and singing in the choir. She sang in the choir until her health declined. Her memory will linger on in our hearts and she will be greatly missed by those who knew her. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 pm at Fellowship Baptist Church in Willow Spring. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Ruth is survived by her husband of 67 years, Charles Davis Stephenson; sons, Mackey Stephenson (Marcia), Ronnie Stephenson (Denise) and Kenneth Stephenson (Sandy) all of Willow Spring; sister, Emma Parrish of Clayton; grandchildren, Shelley Clark (Jason), Brandi Sears (Neal), Katy Cox (Jesse), Traci Starr (Steven), Colt Stephenson, Ashlee Ickes (Corey) and Blake Stephenson; eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her brother Melvin Revels. The family will receive friends 11:15am to 12:45pm prior to the service at the church. The family wants to extend a special thank you to the staff of Oak Hill Living Center for the tremendous care given to Ruth.
