Ruth Roach (Wommack) Smith

RALEIGH – Ruth Roach (Wommack) Smith, 99, passed away in the early morning hours of Wednesday, March 15, 2023.

She was born in Pamlico County on December 22, 1923, the daughter of the late Winfield Scott Roach and Matha Brinson Roach. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her first husband, Harvey Leon Wommack; second husband, Clifton Smith; sister, Joyce Rice; and her brother, Albert Roach.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Grace Dilda and husband, Lawrence of Raleigh; sons, John Wommack and wife, Patricia of Benson, Tim Wommack of Universal City, TX; sister, Clara Alice Banks; grandchildren, Dr. Christy Dilda Carringer and husband, Rev. Mike Carringer, Jonathan Louis Dilda and wife, Ashley, Jeffrey Scott Wommack and wife, Alison, Anna Jacqueline Wommack, Katherine W. Brown and husband, Donnie; great-grandchildren, Hannah Grace Carringer, Stephen Michael Carringer, Paige Christine Dilda, Maizie Evelyn Dilda, Levi Daniel Wommack, Lane Harvey Wommack, Ava Elizabeth Wommack, Kinsley Brooke Brown, Emma Kate Brown, and Charlotte Robynne Brown; and a host of extended family and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at Elmwood Cemetery in Enfield, North Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorial contributions to be made in Ruth’s memory to Transitions LifeCare Hospice: 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.
