GARNER- Sallie Fromer Satterwhite, 84, died Tuesday. Born in Wilson County, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Ellie Proctor Fromer. Mrs. Satterwhite was the first female captain with the NC Dept. of Corrections. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday at Vandora Springs Free Will Baptist Church. Graveside service 2:00 pm at the Kenly Cemetery. Survivors include daughters, Gwen Hobby, Tommie Strickland (Clarence), Patricia Stockton Bierley (Bo) and Wendy Stephens Elliott (Freddie) of Garner; grandchildren, Drew Strickland (Anne), Valerie Strickland Loveall (Bill), Joshua Stockton, Jessimer Stockton Willets (Harrison), Brittany Stephens (fiancé, Chris Lasarek), Kara Stephens, Martha Hobby, Stephanie Stephens Potter (Duke) and James Stephens, as well as one great-grandchild, Jillian Loveall and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Estelle Durham and Ann Baugus; brothers, Jerry, Ray and Leonard Fromer and son- in- law, Jerry Hobby. The family will receive friends Friday from 7:00-9:00 pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner.
