Sally Adams Dupree

Garner - Sally Carol Adams Dupree, 81, passed away peacefully early morning 8/25/17 after 2 1⁄2 difficult years of painful decline. While we will grieve her loss, we also celebrate her life and her home going. It is a blessing! SallyGran will be missed but we are all thankful that her pain and suffering are over and she is in the presence of The Lord. Sally was born June 23, 1936 to Joseph and Sallie Carol Adams. The youngest of 13 children, her mother died during childbirth. She had the privilege of being raised by her aunt and uncle JW “Buster” and Mattie Smith which blessed her with two families to grow up with. She graduated from Angier High School in 1954 and went to work with Occidental Life Insurance company in Raleigh. She married J. Harold Dupree on December 1, 1956 at Angier Baptist Church and they lived in Garner Later while living in Bristol Tennessee she attended a business college and received an associates in medical administration before moving back to Garner. Her only son, Martin H. Dupree was born December 1962 and is married to Angela Wheeler Dupree. Sally and Harold were married almost 61 years and lived primarily in Waynesville, NC and North Myrtle Beach, SC before returning to Garner in 2012. Sally was always a fun loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many who loved to cook and entertain people. She is survived by her husband Harold, her brother Wilbur “Gabe” Adams of Garner and sister Joyce Adams Boore Monath of Fallston, MD, and  her son Marty Dupree (Angela) of Raleigh. SallyGran is also survived by 5 grandchildren: 1Lt J. Wheeler Dupree (Logan), Courtney Adams Dupree Dickens (Al), Darcy Dupree, J. Dawson Dupree, Harper Dupree and one great grandchild: Adaline Carol Dupree. Memorial services will be held on August 27, 2017. Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:15 pm at First Baptist Church in Garner prior to a Celebration Service for SallyGran at 2:30 pm. A graveside committal service will follow in Montlawn Memorial Park, Raleigh.
