Sally Jones Hobby passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2022 after losing her battle with COPD. She was born in Fairmont, NC to Mary Esther Stubbs Jones and James Wilbur Jones. She attended Fairmont High School where she was the head cheer leader. She then attended Western Carolina University for a short time and was a member of the cheer team. She spent her career at NC State University as the Administrative Assistant to the Dean of Physical and Mathematical Sciences upon retiring in 1996. Sally was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and most of all a great friend. Sally was very independent as a widow of over 30 years and enjoyed spending time with her loved ones. She sometimes displayed a stern exterior, but had a huge heart. She loved her family and friends dearly and would be the first to brag on their accomplishments. She will be truly missed! She was predeceased by her parents; husband, James Gerald Hobby; four older brothers, James, Tommy, Billy, and Bobby Jones. She is survived by her sister, Mary Elizabeth Jones Gainor (husband Max); sons John Andrew Vincent, wife Brenda, James Gerald Hobby, Jr. (Jerry), wife Shannon; grandchildren, Johnathon Vincent, fiancé Kayce Page, Michael Nichols, wife Jessica, Mary Nichols, David Nichols, James Gerald Hobby, III (Trey) fiancé Hannah Voso, Sarah Elizabeth Hobby and several great grandchildren.
