Samuel Elijah Alexieff

Samuel Elijah Alexieff, son, brother, friend, artist, skater, lacrosse and talented hockey player, died on Sunday, October 28, 2018, at his family home in Raleigh, NC. He was 19 years old and a student at Wake Technical Community College and working as an electrician apprentice with Morning Star Electric, LLC. Born on August 14, 1999, at 7:08PM to Illya and Betsy Alexieff, Samuel was always known for his quick wit, love of word-play and notorious Sam-a-saurous Rex roar. By age 2, he was on ice skates. By age 10, he was skating rings around his opponents and winning imaginary Stanley Cups. By Age 13, he mastered the skateboard and was a regular at the skate park when he wasn’t scoring goals at the hockey rink. Samuel brought happiness to everyone he met and always had a genuine love to share with all people. He was an engaging and social teenager, extremely athletic, and loved sports nearly as much as a good bag of Cheetos. He helped take his NC Force travel team to their first ever championship in his career. He had a big heart and loved his dogs Bruiser, Speckles, Bear and girlfriend, Maria, whom he adored. A sensitive young man with both passion and a contagious smile, Samuel was also subject to depression, which he wrestled with in the past year. His life was cut short by an alcohol-related incident. He is survived by his parents; his younger brother, William; his maternal grandmother, Carolyne Wallace of Winston-Salem NC and his paternal grandmother, Norma Jean Chelgren Alexieff of Newport NC. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Raleigh. All are welcome. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, November 2, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the Campaign for America’s Kids.
