Sandra K. Winzenz

Raleigh - Sandra K. Winzenz (Starks) left this mortal sphere on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 after a 6 month battle with pancreatic cancer. Sandy is survived by her beloved husband Wayne, of Raleigh, North Carolina; twin Son Benjamin Winzenz and wife Julianne of Keller, Texas with grandchildren Brandon, Kate, Meagan Carli and Brooke; twin son James Winzenz with wife Elizabeth of Thornton, Colorado, and grandchildren Samuel, Joseph, Adam and Danielle; son Andrew Winzenz and wife Cynthia of Cary, North Carolina with grandson Ryan; and brother Robert Starks and wife Arlene of LaPlata, Maryland. Sandy was born May 15, 1948 in South Haven, Michigan where she was raised. She married her husband Wayne, who was her high school sweetheart, in 1969 and moved to the Ann Arbor, Michigan area. They raised their family in Manchester, Michigan, and in 1980 joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They moved to Raleigh, North Carolina in 2005 for Wayne’s job where she served her church in many capacities including that of Ordinance Worker in the Raleigh Temple for over eight years. Sandy had a passion for art and had recently become an accomplished pastel artist. She had many other artistic talents including being a potter and a beautiful vocalist. Sandy worked as a registered nurse and was a Mary Kay Sales Director for 28 years. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Garner Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 1433 Aversboro Road, Garner, NC. The service will be followed by a luncheon for all who attend and extended time to meet and fellowship with the family. The family would request donations to the Duke Cancer Institute in lieu of flowers, which can be made at www.gifts.duke.edu/dci
