Sandra Kay Fralin

Clayton – Sandra “Sandy” Penix Fralin, 73, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on October 27, 2024 after a long and hard-fought battle against breast cancer. She was born in Perry County, Kentucky, on October 7, 1951 to her late parents, Chad and June Penix.

Sandy graduated from NC State University where she went on to serve as a teacher for more than 20 years. After retiring, she moved to North Carolina and found the church she felt she belonged, West Clayton Church of God, where she faithfully attended every Wednesday and Sunday that she was able. At the church she was also an active participant of the Young at Heart group, a member of the Lunch Bunch, and a dedicated servant at the Samaritan’s Shelf Food Pantry. Many aim to “Serve Like Sandy”.

Sandy was a wonderful wife, loving mother, doting grandmother, and caring friend. She will be remembered fondly by her family and friends as a woman of great strength and faith.

Sandy is survived by her loving husband, David Fralin; son Matt Fralin and wife, Meredith Fralin; sister, Rita Trent; and grandson, Noah Fralin.
