Sandra Kiser (Sandy) Furr

Raleigh - Sandra (Sandy) Kiser Furr, 71, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2014. Mrs. Furr graduated from Appalachian State in 1964 with honors in education. She taught first grade at Beverly Hills Elementary in Concord, NC and first grade at Brentwood Elementary in Raleigh, NC for over 20 years. She received her Master of Arts from North Carolina Central University in 1990 and became Asst. Principal at Fox Road Elementary in 1994. She was a wonderful wife, mother, Nana, teacher and friend. She was filled with life, love and compassion for teaching and taking care of her family and friends. In retirement, she enjoyed travel with her husband and spending time with family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Albert Eugene Furr, Sr.; son, Gene Furr, Jr. of Winterville; daughter, Elizabeth Furr Penny and husband Jon; three granddaughters, Jordan, Ashley, and Taylor; sister, Brenda Kinley and brother James Kiser. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ruth Sheets Adult Day Care, 228 W. Edenton Street, Raleigh, NC in the name of Sandy Furr or to WakeMed, Club REACH program, in honor of Sandy Furr, 3000 New Bern Ave, Raleigh, NC 27610. A huge thanks to the staff at Heartfields Assisted Living for their care, love and compassion. Thanks to Community Hospice for care and support. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 4, from 5pm-7pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 831 Wake Forest Rd., Raleigh, NC.
