RALEIGH - Sarah Elizabeth Brown Daniels, 75, of Raleigh died Monday, May 27, 2013 at her home with her family by her side. Sarah was born on November 12, 1937 in Jamesville, NC to the late Walter L Brown and Jessie Manning Brown. After graduating from Jamesville High School, Sarah attended Atlantic Christian College (now Barton College), earning a degree in Elementary Education. She taught school in Florence, SC for the first two years after graduating before moving to Raleigh in 1963. She taught one year at Cary Elementary and then began her career as a Librarian at the Rex School of Nursing in 1964 where she worked until 1966. She remained a homemaker until 1976 when she returned to work at Millbrook High School as a Media Specialist until her retirement in 1999. Sarah was married for 50 years to Hubert L. (Jack) Daniels who predeceased her in 2009. She is survived by her daughter, Carla Daniels, and a son, Brad Daniels, both of Raleigh, her brothers, Walter L. Brown Jr. and wife Jane of Raleigh, Donald M. Brown and wife Alva Rose of Plymouth, and one sister, Margaret McCaffity of Raleigh, along with numerous nieces and nephews.Sarah was an active member of Hillyer Memorial Christian Church for more than 45 years. She was involved in many areas of the life of the Church including the Christian Womens Fellowship and Stephen Ministry Program. Sarah loved to read and in her later years, spent many hours enjoying good books. She loved the beach and spent many happy vacations with her family in Emerald Isle, NC. Her kind spirit and infectious laugh will be remembered by all who knew her The family will receive friends from 6 - 7:30 PM Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 831 Wake Forest Rd in Raleigh. There will be a memorial service on Friday, May 31, 2013 at 11am at Hillyer Memorial Christian Church, 718 Hillsborough St, Raleigh. Graveside services, Sunday, June 2, 2013 at 3pm at Jamesville Cemetery, Jamesville NC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hillyer Memorial Christian Church, Hospice of Wake County or the charity of ones choice.
