Sarah Elizabeth Atkins Coker, age 28, of Clayton, NC passed away after a brave battle with Lymphoma on Monday June 8, 2020 at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill. Due to current restrictions, the family held a private Celebration of Her Life on Saturday June 13. Sarah was born September 22nd 1991 in Baltimore MD, the daughter of Alan Dale Atkins and Susan Elizabeth Atkins. She grew up in Clayton NC and proudly graduated from Clayton High School in 2010. She attended Johnston Community College and worked as a sales associate for AC Moore and Talbots for many years. She married the love of her life, Steven Craig Coker on November 17th 2018, the happiest day of her life. Sarah loved her family and always saw the best in everyone. She will always be remembered for her incredible smile, her infectious giggle, and her beautiful heart. She enjoyed life to the fullest whether it was a “daycation”, a weekend at Busch Gardens, or a cruise to the Bahamas with her husband. She loved to be surrounded by family. They were her best friends. Sarah also had a great love of elephants, she surrounded herself with anything elephant related! She also loved her dog Cooper who has been with her since she was a teenager. She kept him calm during storms and gave him snuggles on the couch. Her big hugs will be missed by everyone who knew her. She was dearly loved and will be forever missed by all who knew her, the greatest of these being her husband Steven “Craig” Coker; her father Alan D. (Lori) Atkins of Winter Park, FL; her mother Susan E. (Greg J) Atkins of Clayton, NC; sister Alysia G. Atkins of Clayton, NC; her grandmother Carol Nalewaik of Clayton, NC; her grandmother June Atkins of Taneytown, MD and her in-laws Steven and Elaine Coker of Selma, NC. She is also survived by many close aunts, uncles, cousins, and great friends. She was predeceased by her grandfather Joseph Nalewaik and her grandfather Charles Atkins.
