Sarah Juanell Brewer King

Our dear mother, Sarah “Juanell” Brewer King, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on October 17, 2022. She was born on December 3, 1929, in Orange County NC, and lived a full and beautiful 92 years, most of which was in the Raleigh/Garner area.

She was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, family member and friend to all. She loved her God, family, and community. She had many friends, family and church family in the Garner area who loved the caring compassionate way she lived her life as an example to us all.

After high school, she attended Guilford College for one year, then left to attend nursing school, at Saint Leo’s, which was her lifelong calling. After taking 19 years off to raise her children, she returned to nursing and finished her career as a public health nurse. After retiring, she volunteered for Meals on Wheels for 27 years, delivering her last meal this past May. She also volunteered weekly at Garner Area Ministries for 25 years.

She was an active member of New Bethel Baptist Church, Garner NC, for over 60 years and walked her faith daily as an extension of her love and faith in Christ in her life. She was known by all as a generous, kind soul, never speaking ill of anyone and always offering a seat at her table to anyone who entered her home; needing a friend to listen; or a warm meal. She was one of the most selfless, caring individuals in this world, and her shining light will live on in her children’s, grandchildren’s, and great grandchildren’s lives for many years to come.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 25th at 2:00 pm at New Bethel Baptist Church · 2110 Benson Rd Garner, North Carolina 27529. Burial will follow the service at Montlawn Memorial Park, 2911 S. Wilmington Street, Raleigh, NC 27603. The family will receive friends and family from 12:15 pm to 1:45 pm prior to the service at New Bethel.

She was predeceased by her husband, Paul King, and is survived by her children: Bonnie Wheeler (spouse, Sammy; daughter, Samantha) of Garner, NC; Edward King (spouse, Dean; daughter, Rebecca; son, Paul) of Fuquay, NC; Sara King (spouse, Mike Beahn; daughters, Rachel and Ava) of Apex, NC; Woody King (spouse, Laura; son, Dylan; daughter, Morgan) of Holly Springs, NC; and five great grandchildren. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Marie Hoffmann.
