Sheila Joyce Routh

June 20, 1937 — March 5, 2021

Sheila Joyce Routh, 83, of Cary died Friday. She was born in Sharon, Pennsylvania on June 20, 1937. She married Sanford Routh in 1960 and has two children, Marc Routh and husband Asher of New York and Jeff Routh and wife Susan of Cincinnati, Ohio and four grandchildren, Remy, Edison, Max and Caroline Routh. Sheila began her career as a high school teacher and after the birth of her children returned to substitute teaching. When her children reached high school age she received her masters degree in Library Science and became the Administrator of the Art Theater Music Library at the Youngstown State University College of Fine and Performing Arts where she worked for 20 years. Sheila and Sandy moved to Cary upon retirement and enjoyed golf at Prestonwood Country Club. She was a member of Beth Shalom Synagogue in Cary, CASA volunteer, docent at the North Carolina Museum of Art and a volunteer with the Greater Raleigh Visitors Bureau. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday at Raleigh Hebrew Cemetery on State Street in Raleigh. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either the North Carolina Museum of Art or Beth Shalom Synagogue. Arrangements are by Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Raleigh.
