FUQUAY-VARINA– Shirley Lee Batten, 89, passed away Wednesday at the home of her daughter and son-in-law. During the week before her homecoming, she was surrounded by her family whom she loved and adored. A native of Pine Level, she was the daughter of the late Dalton and Thelma Lee.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 22nd in the chapel of Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier.
A private interment will be held for the family at Raleigh Memorial Park, Raleigh.
Shirley is survived by her sons, Jeff Batten (Cathy) of Newport, Chris Batten of Louisburg; daughter, Sonia Gregory (Chris) of Fuquay-Varina; five grandchildren; Heather Fields and husband, Kevin of Franklinton, Jeff Batten, II and wife, Jill of Rougemont, Amber Ross and husband, Eric of Holly Springs, Tabitha Talley and husband, Mitch of Fuquay-Varina, Jenny Prince and husband, Mitch of Fuquay-Varina; ten great-grandchildren, Camden Fields, Brayden Fields, River Batten, Ryder Batten, Hudson Ross, Hazel Ross, Emmie Talley, Corey Turner, Myles Turner, and Drake Prince; family friend, John Wheeler of Louisburg; her brother, Dalton Lee, Jr. and wife, Penny of Mineral, VA.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leland Ethridge Batten whom she was lovingly married to for 69 years.
