Stacy Marlin Conrad

December 2, 1939 — June 29, 2015

Beloved husband and father, Stacy Marlin Conrad, age 75 of Garner, NC, formerly of Linn, WV passed away Monday, June 29, 2015. He was born in Gilmer County, WV in 1939, son of the late Sylvia Mary Conrad, and one of eight children. Stacy fell in love and married Wilma Jean Fincham in 1959. He had won her heart while singing and playing guitar with Ward Brannon and the Sunset Ramblers. Together they raised their three children in suburban Virginia. He proudly served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps. Following his enlistment, Stacy worked for Fairfax County Water Authority. He retired after 26 years. He was well loved and respected by his coworkers and friends. Stacy found great satisfaction in a hard day’s work. He tirelessly tended his lawn and gardens, and could often be found in those of his neighbors. He was happy to lend a hand or offer his expertise. His hands were always busy, whether working or playing his guitar. He loved Bluegrass and often sang along to old favorites. He passed on his love of music and his belief in hard work to his children and six grandchildren. After moving to NC in 2011, Stacy began attending Turner Memorial Baptist Church. He became a member and was baptized at the age of 73. He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed by his family, church family, and friends. He has gone to be with his Lord and Savior. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Harold and Ruhel; sister, Sue Bosley; and wife of 51 years, Wilma. Stacy is survived by sons, Stacy J. Conrad and wife Melissa; Tim Conrad and wife Sheila; daughter, Nina Weaver and husband Michael; six grandchildren, Angela Everett, Candace Conrad, Matthew Conrad, Julia Weaver, Michael Conrad, and Lauren Weaver; and one great-granddaughter, Virginia. He is also survived by brothers, Gerald and Leonard Conrad; and sisters Edabelle Rogers, and Dollie Meador. There will be a private memorial service in WV. In the words of his favorite song, he and his wife Wilma will together “Go Rest High on that Mountain.” Donations may be made to Transitions Hospice House, 250 Hospice Cir, Raleigh, NC 27607, whose facility is incredible and whose staff is greatly appreciated.
