Stanley Conrad Bass, 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 25th. Born in Harnett County on May 7th, 1937, he was the son of the late Roy and Lila Bass. He was preceded in death by his brother, Elbert Curtis Bass; and sister, Donna Bass Pyle. Stanley is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marie Smith Bass; daughters, Sharron Bass and Tommy Baker of Willow Spring NC, Allison Bass and Randolph Hamner of Hillsborough NC, and Angela Cote and husband George Cote of Broadway, NC; granddaughters, Natalie Chesson and husband Eric Chesson of Linville Falls NC, Candace Coover of High Point NC, and Emily Hennings and her husband Alex of Bunnlevel NC; three great-grandsons, Ethan Coover, and Roman and Mason Hennings; sisters, Jean Langdon of Lillington NC, Judy Suggs of Sanford NC, Elaine Knowles of St. Augustine FL, and Nadine McCauley of Lillington. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, all whom have many fond memories of their Uncle Stanley. Stanley was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and retired from Greyhound after 25 years of exemplary service. He fulfilled a lifelong dream of becoming a pilot and flight instructor and was a member of the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary Civil Air Patrol and ran the Harnett County Regional Jetport for many years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the American Legion in Angier. A celebration of life will be held on October 27th from 1:00 -4:00 PM at the Angier Depot.
