Stanley Lewis Smith

RALEIGH – Stanley Lewis Smith was born on 15th September, 1932 in Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom to Frederick and Lily Smith. He passed away on 31st July at Cadence North Raleigh Assisted Living in Raleigh, North Carolina.


A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 5th at 11:00 am in the chapel of Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Raleigh, North Carolina.


He is survived by his wife Bernadette Smith, and two daughters; Amanda Smith of Cambridge UK, and daughter Rosanne Smith and son in law K Ryan Parker of Raleigh.


He was preceded in death by his brothers John Smith and Albert Smith, sisters Enid Roberts and Joan Rollo, and twin brother Joseph (Joe) Smith.


In his younger years, he enjoyed playing rugby and travelling with his twin brother Joe, and had many adventures in New Zealand, Australia and the United States. He was an avid reader and would often spend hours in the library. He loved classical music, musical theatre and movies. He was a family man and liked to combine travels with family visits. Besides living in Raleigh, he lived in Wales, New Zealand, New York City, and spent more than 30 years in Greenville, SC where he built a strong community of friends and family.
