Stanton Aaron Conyers, Jr.

GARNER – Stanton Aaron Conyers, Jr., 96, died Wednesday, April 20, 2022. Stan was born on January 14, 1926, in Raleigh to the late Stanton A. Conyers and Helen Moore Conyers. Stan was a proud United States Air Force veteran and was honored to be chosen to participate in the Freedom Honor Flight that flies veterans to Washington D.C. to visit the memorials built in their honor. Stan retired from Progress Energy after working for 42 years. He was a diehard NC State Wolfpack fan. He was also an avid golfer and after his retirement could be found at Bentwinds Country Club playing golf with his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Conyers; his daughter, Debra Conyers Fearing; and stepdaughter, Robbie Wright. Stan is survived by his wife, Edith; Daughters, Sandra “Sandi” Conyers Anderson and husband, Tommy, and Teresa “Terri” Conyers Trip; stepchildren, Debbie Willard and husband, Randy, Dale Penny and wife, Ag, Don Penny and wife, Sharon, Philip Penny and wife, Sheree. Hs is also survived by numerous grand and great grandchildren. The family would like to thank Stan’s wonderful caregivers while at Lawndale Manor Nursing Home. A private graveside service will be held at Montlawn Memorial Park, Raleigh. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the charity of your choice.
