Stephen Maxwell Peedin

b. October 21, 1928

Raleigh - Stephen Jr. M. Peedin, 85, a Raleigh resident for 68 years, died peacefully Wednesday evening at Rex Hospital in Raleigh. He was surrounded and comforted by all of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren at the time of his passing. Steve was born October 21, 1928, on the Peedin Family Farm in Princeton, NC and was the youngest of 7 children to the late Stephen Barney and Rhoda Jane Thompson Peedin. Steve and Arline C. Peedin were married on September 3, 1948 in Raleigh. During his lifetime, Steve Red was a Meat Market Manager with Winn Dixie, an owner of a family run grocery store and Operations Manager of a meat processing plant with the State of NC. He was a faithful Christian and member of Trinity Baptist Church in Raleigh since 1961. Steve was preceded in death by his wife, Arline Creech; son, Alan Creech; and six siblings, Robert, Kizzie, Lizzie, Lillie, Merlin and Eula Mae. Steve is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Ann; son, Mark Stephen; five grandchildren, Sean Treadway, Allison Treadway, Maura Laurin, Michelle Peedin, Melanie Peedin; three great-grandchildren, Brittany Hicks, Tyler Hicks, Christina Presson; and numerous nieces, nephews and countless of extended family and loving friends. A Celebration of Life service will be conducted on Monday, October 13, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church in Raleigh, officiated by Rev. Dr. Jeff Roberts. The family will receive friends prior to the service, in the Narthex, from 1:00 - 1:45 p.m. Following the service, there will be an interment service at the church columbarium. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Baptist Church, Shaw Mission Fund, 4815 Six Forks Rd Raleigh, NC 27609. Arrangements by Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 831 Wake Forest Rd. Raleigh.
