RALEIGH - On Monday, June 1, 2022, Steven E. King, loving husband and father of two children, passed away at the age of 74. Steve was born on June 12, 1947 in Elkhart, IN to Francis (Bud) and Kathryn Stouder King. He was a homebuilder in Wakarusa, IN for over 20 years. On April 24, 1971, he married Dixie Jean Thornton. They raised one son, Jeffrey, and one daughter, Angela. Steve joined the Air Force after high school where he spent time in Germany, Italy, and North Africa. Steve had a heart for mission work and joined many work teams through the Missionary Church. After his children were grown he felt called to become a missionary full time. He moved with his wife to Japan for 8 ½ years doing maintenance at the Tokyo Biblical Seminary and worked on Japanese Holiness churches throughout Japan. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Francis, his mother, Kathryn, and his half brother David (Sharon) Haas. He is survived by his wife Dixie, his two children, Jeffrey (Maria) King and Angela (William) Geith, his brother Michael (Juile) King, 5 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, June 12th, 2022 at the Garner Freewill Baptist Church at 1133 Benson Rd, Garner NC at 3 o’clock p.m. Memorial donations may be sent to OMS - Japan Christian Mission Church, 941 Fry Rd PO Box A, Greenwood, IN 46142 or Transitions Lifecare, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC, 27607. A celebration of life service will also be held 2:00 pm Sunday, July10th at Wakarusa Missionary Church. Funeral arrangements are by Bryan-Lee Funeral Home of Raleigh.
