Storey Hamilton, 86, passed away Wednesday surrounded by his loving family. Born in Clarksville, TX, he was the son of the late Oscar Bynom and Sallie Minerva Storey Hamilton. Storey was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed traveling and spending time at their mountain cottage. After graduating from high school, he joined the Navy at age 17 to go into WWII. During this time, he met Bettie Sue Bell and they were married on May 18, 1949. Storey graduated from Sam Houston State University in 1949. He taught Veterans classes through Paris Junior College before beginning employment with EBASCO, an engineering firm, where he worked for 18 years. Storey and Bettie moved to NC and he began a career with Carolina Power and Light, retiring in 1990 as a manager. He enjoyed being active and after retirement, held part-time jobs with Garner Florist, Bryan-Lee Funeral Home and the NC Department of Revenue. A memorial service with military honors will be held 11:00 am Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church of Garner. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8:00 pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Bettie B. Hamilton; sons, Kyle Hamilton (Karen) of Greer, SC and Jim Hamilton (Donna) of League City, TX; his beloved grandchildren, Phillip Hamilton (Kristy) of Jeffersonville, IN and Blair Hamilton Brown (Addison) of League City, TX; great-grandchildren, Kallie and Blake Hamilton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Garner, 503 Lakeside Drive, Garner, NC 27529.
