ANGIER – Sue Stephenson Nooney, 80, passed away Thursday. A native of Harnett County she was the daughter of the late Ingham Solomon and Lula Mae Pleasant Stephenson. She was a registered nurse and a graduate of Wilson School of Nursing, most recently employed at Raleigh Community Hospital. In addition to her nursing career, she and husband Ray owned and operated the Tastee Freez in Angier for many years. Her favorite profession was Me-Mom to her 7 grandchildren. Funeral Service will be held Monday at 11:00 AM at Angier Baptist Church, Angier. Burial will follow at Lakeside Memorial Gardens, Angier. Mrs. Nooney is survived by her daughter, Robin Nooney; son, Jonathan Jesse Nooney and wife, Christiane; sister, Lee Stephenson; brothers, David Stephenson and wife, Euba, all of Angier, AD Stephenson of Garner; sisters-in-law, Mae Stephenson, Rebecca Stephenson, Agatha Stephenson, Jennie Denning, Juanita Nooney and Dottie Shelton; grandchildren, Jana Joyner and fiancé Kenny King of Selma, TX, Leslie Joyner, Timothy Nooney, Robert Nooney, Wesley Nooney, Cheyanne Nooney and Alexandra Nooney, all of Angier; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Ray Nooney; daughter, Kim Nooney Cockrell; sister, Pauline S. Guy; brothers, Rev. John B. Stephenson, Rev. Julian Stephenson, Lindsy Stephenson and Wade Stephenson; brother-in-law, Thomas Nooney. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Sunday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier and at other times at the home of Mrs. Nooney. Flowers are appreciated or donations may be made to the Angier Baptist Church roof project, 155 S. Hickory St. Angier, NC 27501 or to a charity of your choice in Mrs. Nooney’s memory.
