Betty “Suvon” Gandy, 80, of Angier, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Raleigh on Friday, August 2, 2024, under the care of Transitions LifeCare Hospice. Born in Harnett County, she was the daughter of the late James Clarence Gaskin and Gertha Mae Gaskin.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, August 7th at Angier Baptist Church, 155 S. Hickory St. Angier, NC 27501. A private burial will be held at Lakeside Memorial Gardens, Angier on a later date. Following the service at the church, friends are invited to go to the home of Suvon’s daughter, Elisa, 3504 Banks Rd. Raleigh, NC 27603 for a time of fellowship to reflect and share memories of Suvon.
Suvon is survived by her son, Brian DeWayne Gandy of Angier; daughter, Elisa Suvon Gandy and fiancé, Lacy “Bo” Buffaloe of Raleigh; grandson, Remington “Chase” Mangum of Lillington; granddaughter, Kristen Elise Currin and husband, Luke of Fuquay-Varina; great-grandchildren, Kingston Luke Currin and Irie Elise Currin both of Fuquay-Varina; brothers-in-law, Ray Short of Whiteville, Dewey Stephens of Angier, Gene Steadman of Shreveport, LA; a very special sister-in-law that she loved like a real sister, Jeneane Gaskin Birdsong of Shreveport, LA; as well as her other sisters-in-law, Doris Ann Gray (Bill) of Dauphin Island, AL and Wanda Gandy of Shreveport, LA. She also had numerous nieces and nephews throughout North Carolina and Louisiana whom she dearly loved. As well as many great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Milton DeWayne Gandy; brother, J.C. Gaskin; sisters, Ollie Faye Mangum, Carole Short, and Vicki Stephens; brother-in-law, James Mangum; niece, Kimberly Parker; nephew, Scott Short; sister-in-law, Glenda Steadman; father-in-law, Milton Gandy; mothers-in-law, Doris Gandy and Jennie Brazzel.
