Suzann Ball

RALEIGH - Suzann Doyle Ball, 66, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Transitions LifeCare Hospice Home in Raleigh.

She was born in Philadelphia, PA on June 6, 1958, the daughter of the late John "Jack" Doyle and Ann Platt Doyle. She grew up in the seaside town of Ocean City, New Jersey where she developed her lifelong love of the beach.

After graduating from Ocean City High School, she attended the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill where she received her B.S. degree in Business Administration in 1980. After graduation she remained in Chapel Hill working with a small export business. During these years she met her future husband, Lowell, who was finishing his law school studies at UNC-Chapel Hill.

In 1982, Suzann and Lowell moved to Atlanta, Georgia and in 1984 they married. In Atlanta, Suzann completed the paralegal certification program at Emory University and worked as a paralegal with the Neely & Player law firm. From 1988 until 2010 Suzann worked as a full-time mom, raising their two children and taking leadership roles in their children's schools and PTA organizations. In 2010, the family moved to Raleigh, where Suzann worked as a paralegal with the Axiom legal services firm and later with the Credit Suisse investment bank.

During her 28 years in Atlanta, Suzann became an avid tennis player, participating in year-round team tennis leagues run by the Atlanta Lawn Tennis Association (ALTA) and the USTA, with one of her ALTA teams winning a city-wide championship. Throughout her life, Suzann was an avid dog lover. One of her last acts before her final hospitalization was to adopt a rescue puppy named Valentine to join her other dog named Bear.

In addition to her parents, Suzann was preceded in death by her daughter, Jenna Ball Daniels, Jenna's husband Jerame Daniels, and Suzann's brother, John Doyle.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, C. Lowell Ball; son, Matt Ball and his wife, Anna Yeung of Pacifica, CA; granddaughters, Isla Daniels of the home, and Mari Yeung and Luna Yeung, both of Pacifica, CA; brother, Richard Matthew Doyle of Atlanta, GA and State College, PA; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 2, 2025, at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home of Raleigh (831 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh, NC 27604). The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. A private burial will occur in Raleigh Memorial Park.
