Terisa Ann Sumrall

November 1, 1955 — December 2, 2023

ANGIER – Terisa Ann Sumrall, 68, passed away at Wake Medical Center in Cary on Saturday December 2, 2023, surrounded by family. Born in Tylertown, MS, she was the daughter of the late Jessie Merle Knight and Mary Jo Thomas Knight. She married Frank Sumrall in 1972 and they lived together in Franklinton, Louisiana for 23 years before relocating to Montrose Colorado. Teri’s and Frank recently relocated to Angier, NC in 2018.


Terisa’s top priorities in life were God and her family. She was known for gathering information and pictures from close and extended family members to add to her large collection of memories. She was the author of her and her husband's genealogical family tree and loved to share this information with family. She was sweet, kind and loved by many. Terisa was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.


Terisa is survived by her husband of 51 years, Frank Sumrall; daughters, Rhonda Zarkis (Jamie) of Montrose, CO, and Stephanie Currin (Matt) of Angier; son, Justin Sumrall of Angier; sister, Shirley Brooks (Danny) of Franklinton, LA; brothers, Norman Knight (Cheryl) of Walker, LA, David Knight of Abita Springs, LA, Ricky Knight (Kim) of Franklinton, LA, Jessie Merle Knight, Jr. (Tammy) of Franklinton, LA; grandchildren, Anna Zarkis, Nicole Zarkis, Savannah Sumrall, Candassey Sumrall, Adam Brogden, and Jeremy Brogden.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepdaughter, Theresa Brogden; sisters, Lois Graves and Mary Ann Knight; and brother, John Wayne Knight.


A memorial service will be held in North Carolina on December 7th at 3pm for her immediate family. A larger celebration of life memorial will be held in Louisiana in the spring of 2024.
