Thena Ivey Smith

January 27, 1935 - August 19, 2011 RALEIGH - Thena Ivey Smith, 76, passed away Friday, August 19th at her home. She was the daughter of the late Duffy T. and Nettie Parrish Ivey. She was a 1953 graduate of Four Oaks High School and retired from the NC Division of Air Quality. Her survivors include her husband of 57 and a half years, Howard Red Smith; two sons, Craig Smith and Michael Smith and his wife, Denise, both of Raleigh; grandchildren, Renee Conley and her husband, Greg, of IN, Caroline and Deanna Smith, both of Raleigh; sisters, Rachel Young of Lillington, Fannie Rose Ramsey, of Marshallberg, Ethel Ann Holland, of Four Oaks; and brother, D.T. Ivey, Jr., of Four Oaks. In addition to her parents, Thena was preceded in death by her sisters Ally Mae Ivey and Geraldine Ivey Moberg. Funeral service will be conducted Monday, August 22, 2011, at 11:00 am at Fellowship Baptist Church by Reverend Bob Coats and Reverend Mark Palmer. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. Family will receive friends Sunday 4-6:00 pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner. The family welcomes flowers or donations in her memory to Hospice of Wake County 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC. 27607.
