Thomas King, also known as Al and Kingfish to his closest friends passed away Friday, August 28th after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie King, daughter Heather King, grandson, Braydon Thomas King Ganey, sister, Michelle King and brothers Todd and Tim King. He is preceded in death by his parents T.A. and Marie King. Thomas retired from the federal government agency General Services Administration and owned and operated King’s Heating and Air Conditioning for over 25 years. He was an active member of Angier United Methodist Church, the Sheepsheader Society and ambassador of To Make a Child Smile Foundation. His heart was as big as he was. For years he played Santa Claus for the Town of Angier, Angier Volunteer Fire Department, To Make a Child Smile Foundation and his church. The children’s smiles were their gifts to him. If someone was in need, he was right there with his pig cooker helping with fundraisers and VA Stand Downs for Homeless Veterans. For a short time, he was able to enjoy helping others by delivering Meals on Wheels to those in need in the community. He loved fishing and when he was not on the boat, he loved cooking for his friends and family. Nobody left his barn without having many laughs and a delicious meal. We would like to thank Dr. Jeffrey Crane, Denise Pescaro, Dr. Naveen Narahari, Dr. Rig Patel, all the nurses and staff of Rex Hematology and Oncology, Rex Cancer Center and Transition Life. Their compassion and support was comforting and made his journey much easier as he knew he was receiving the best of care. A Memorial Service celebrating his life will be held Wednesday, September 2, 11:00 at Angier United Methodist Church, Angier, NC with visitation following. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Angier United Methodist Church or To Make a Child Smile Foundation of Angier, NC. To know Al King was to know a humble, generous man of faith.
